AUSTIN GATHERINGS CHURCH CORE BELIEFS

The Lord's Day

by: Austin Church

The Lord’s Day is a glorious celebration of our rest in Christ! Following the pattern set by the New Testament church, we esteem the first day of the week (Sunday) as set aside for worship, the beautiful Lord’s Supper, spiritual activities, and gathering of the saints (Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Revelation 1:10). We rest from all carnal labor such as work, school, and household chores (besides acts of necessity and mercy) as stated in the 4th commandment of the moral l

THE NAME OF JESUS

by: Austin Church

The name of Jesus is the sweetest and most lovely name in the universe because it is the creator's name - who made everything beautiful in His time (Ecc 3:11)! His creation is still exceedingly beautiful, aside from man's corruptions of it, and so Jesus must necessarily be the coalescence of all beauty - and so His wonderful name conveys the excellence and eminence of all beauty. Doctrinally, every individual Christian within the church body is privileged to breathe every

THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST

by: Austin Church

The Bible teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became a man (without ceasing to be God) and, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary in order that He might be God manifest in the flesh and redeem sinful men (1 Tim 3:16, Isa 7:14, 9:6, Luk 1:35, Joh 1:1-2, 14, 2 Cor 5:19-21, Gal 4:4-5, Phil 2:5-8). The Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills t

THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

by: Austin Church

The Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and,  He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption (Joh 16:8-11, Rom 8:9, 1 Cor 12:12-14, 2 Cor 3:6, Eph 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit is the Divine Teacher who guides believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be fil

SIGN GIFTS -VS- GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

by: Austin Church

08/20/2020

There are  "sign gifts"  and "gifts of the Spirit" in the New Testament and they are different dispensations.  "Sign gifts" have ceased according to 1 Cor 13:8, but the "gifts of the Spirit" in 1 Cor 12:7 have always been for the church's profit since its institution.

Regarding the wonderful and extravagant "sign gifts" such as raising the dead, casting out devils, speaking in new tongues, taking up serpents, drinking deadly things, healing the sick, and cleansing lepers (M

CREATION

God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age Theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin (Genesis 1-2, Exo 20: 11).

RESURRECTION

by: Austin Church

The Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Act 2:18-36, Rom 3:24-25, 1 Pet 2:24, Eph 1:7, 1 Pet 1:3-5). through Him alone, we have the promise of total victory over sin, death, and the grave since Christ rose from the dead by His own power (Luk 24:46, Joh 10:17-18, Mat 12:26-27).

SALVATION

by: Austin Church

08/20/2020

Salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. Essentially this gift of grace is God’s unmerited favor granted to us when we exercise true faith and repentance (Joh 1:12, Eph 1:7, Eph 2:8-10, 1 Pet 1:18-19, Eph 2: 8-9, Tit 3:5, Act 17:30-31, Act 20:20-21).

ETERNAL SECURITY AND ASSURANCE

by: Austin Church

The scriptures teach that all of the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever (Joh 6:37-40, Joh 10:27-30, Rom 8:1, Rom 8:38-39, 1 Cor 1:4-8, 1 Pet 1:4-5).  It is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Rom 13:13-14, Gal. 5:13, Tit 2:11-15).

Our new, spiritually induced change and repentance which is indicative of the truly saved Christian (2 Cor 5:17,  2 Cor 5:14-15). God teaches that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord; and, that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded of God (Rom 12:1, Rom 14:13, 2 Cor 6:14-17, 2 Tim 3:1-5, 1 Joh 2:15-17).

TEXTUS RECEPTUS (KJV BIBLE)

Our biggest faith-building tool is the inerrant Word which serves as our final authority for all matters of faith and practice (Psa 12:6-7).  The Old and New Testament are the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed, and are the complete, and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures have three senses (which are of no private interpretation): 1., literal, 2., figurative, and 3., spiritual; and every part of

CHASTISEMENT

by: Austin Church

08/20/2020

Chastisement is a scourge (or punishment) against "Christian" unholiness and immorality. The scripture says in 2 Pet 1:4 that a real believer has "escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust". This selfsame scripture reasons that Christians DO NOT have a sin-nature but a 'divine nature'. Therefore, in favor of this perfect context, sin is nothing less than a gross anomaly for a real Christian -- in other words, sin is NOT normal for a real Christian. Of course
