Laodicean theology primarily acknowledges failure and weakness and wickedness in the so-called "regenerated" soul. They preach that we are in a constant battleground in which we cannot completely win the fight over worldly lusts and the darkest morality issues. They present falling into sin as a very common thing and almost a necessary thing for the average Christian. They present another Jesus whose sole purpose and enjoyment is to drive a sinner to a profession of faith and then to fix that sinner's sin and brokenness repeatedly thereafter. They say that we are born as sinners and then get "born again" only to continue the unbroken cycle of sins only to be perfected in heaven. They issue stark warnings against Phariseeism and disarm their doomed flocks against thinking they can ever become overcomers!
In the text of 1 John 2:12-14, there is a shocking contrast to the deplorable theology of Laodicea -- that is, the state of holiness and instant moral purity is instantiated immediately after justification: in the newborn baby Christian, they have forgiveness of sins for his name's sake: in young men, they have already overcome the wicked one: in our godly fathers, they have known him that is from there beginning (with intimacy). This is the state of real Christianity and the former state of modern Laodicea teaching is of the Devil!
Austin Gatherings uses the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, and Pastor Mark Jones will be preaching today out of 1 John 2:12-14.
